WHY DOES UPBEAT WORK?
Upbeat works because of its enormous appeal to its target groups - school-age children, parents, teachers/administrators, police officers, town officials and Berlin residents. The program offers something that each group values as fun and important.
FUNDING
The Upbeat Program is funded solely through grants, financial donations, fundraisers, gifts and donations of goods and services by the town, school system, service groups and clubs, the local business community and citizens.

INTEGRITY
Founded as a drug and alcohol prevention program, Upbeat has grown around the word integrity. We strive to instill in our students good decision-making skills so that they make the right choice even when no one is watching.
LEADERSHIP
Upbeat has always worked to develop leaders within Berlin High School and the community. Upbeat alumni have continued in their great leadership roles from mayor to lawyers to educators.
SERVICE
The most known part of Upbeat is its commitment to service. We encourage students to give back to the community that has given so much to them. Students who work with Upbeat are able to volunteer at schools, hospitals, animal shelters, police stations, fire departments, senior centers, sporting events, parks and recreation, churches, and many more local organizations.
